For the short documentary film “Holy Defiance” by young director Karla Jelić, we created a poster in collaboration with Zagreb-based artist and illustrator Klarxy. The film was produced by Zagreb Film and will soon have its world premiere at Sheffield DocFest, the UK’s leading documentary film festival.

“Holy Defiance” follows the appearance of male prayer groups in the main squares of Croatian cities and the public resistance of multimedia artist Arijana Lekić Fridrih through her participatory feminist performance of the same name. Through the reactions of the prayers groups, passers-by, and the police, the film explores themes of public space, resistance, and women’s rights in Croatia.

Our thanks for the wonderful collaboration go to Karla, the film crew, Zagreb Film, and Klarxy, who drew more than a hundred characters for the final visual. We wish the film and the entire team a successful premiere in Sheffield and many more festivals in the calendar!
